Sam Orchard Crowned Miss Sanilac County Outstanding Teen 2013
SANDUSKY- Samantha Orchard, age 14, of Sandusky has been selected as Miss Sanilac County Outstanding Teen 2013. Samantha is a freshman at Sandusky High School. She is the daughter of Mark and Julie Orchard. In route to her victory, she performed a musical theatre dance “The New Girl In Town” from Hairspray.
Samantha will represent Sanilac County at the June 2013 Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant.
Orchard will receive a paid entrance fee into the Miss Michigan contest as well as her opening number dress for the state competition.
First Runner-up honors went to Darbi Dombrowski, age 14, of West Bloomfield, MI. She is the daughter of Karie Ross. She performed “I Want to be a Star” a musical theatre vocal. She is the winner of a $100.00 scholarship and assumes the position of Miss Sanilac County Outstanding Teen, should Orchard win at the state level.
The Second Runner up went to Diana Davis, age 13, of Clawson, MI. She is the daughter of Gregory and Donalea Davis. She performed a beautiful violin solo. She is the winner of a $100.00 scholarship.
The is the second annual teen scholarship pageant. The event was held at the Sandusky Middle School on Sunday, with the help of numerous volunteers and sponsors.
Contestants and volunteers spent all day Sunday preparing for the 7:00 p.m curtain time.
Judges for the event included: Edna Smith, Imogene Cork, Rita Berberich, Randy Foco, and Paul Cowley. Steve Hutchinson was the judges coordinator and Stan Grabitz was the Emcee.
“The Sanilac County Pageant board would like to express sincere thanks to those who have supported the scholarship pageants in Sanilac County,” said Pageant Chairperson Sandy Miller.
“Please join us for the Miss Sanilac County Pageant on Sunday, November 25th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., at the Sandusky Middle School.”
