Melvin F. Wissmiller

MARLETTE – Melvin F. Wissmiller, 79, of Marlette passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the Marlette Hospice Residence.
Mr. Wissmiller lived in the Marlette area the past 45 years, and was previously from Oscoda.
He was born October 18, 1933, in Mikado, MI, the son of the late George and Ruby (Stewart) Wissmiller.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, from 1953 to 1958.
He married Marie M. Bruman, on November 29, 1958, in Flint.
He worked for Long’s Tri-County Gas for many years, and started his own Field Tiling business, Wissmiller Drainage, and also owned M&M Country Crafts. He was a long time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and past member of K of C in Marlette.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, of 54 years; Darlene Maison (daughter) of Marlette; Michael and Monica Wissmiller (son) of Macomb Twp.; George and Ruth Wissmiller (brother) of Twining; Ruth and Arnold Ward (sister) of Oscoda, Elaine Hanners, (sister) of Clio, Linda and Dan Monroe, (sister) of AuGres; grandchildren, Carrie Walker, Andrew Smith, Stefainie Catlin, Stacy Jarzynka and Melvin Wissmiller Jr., III.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Melvin Wissmiller Jr.; great-grand- daughter, Ruby Marie Walker; and sisters, Sharron Wissmiller, Jacquelyn Welch, Shirley Small and Phyllis Wissmiller.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Andrzej Boroch.
Burial was at the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, in North Branch, with full military honors.
Memorials may be donated to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or United Hospice Service.
Visitation was held Tuesday, at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, and Wednesday, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
A Scripture service was held on Tuesday night at the Funeral Chapel.
